How do I print from a laptop or mobile device?


Mobility Print is a feature that allows you to print from your personal devices, including computers, tablets, and phones connected to the RUWireless Secure network.

You must be on the Rutgers network or VPN in order to access the links and complete setup.

For detailed instructions, please follow the steps listed below for the platform you are using:

The current Mobility Print configuration will only support centrally managed Chromebooks. Since patron-owned devices are not centrally managed, Chromebooks will no longer be supported as a client for Mobility Print in the OIT computer labs. OIT apologizes for any inconvenience and will work with PaperCut on a road map for print support for patron-owned Chromebooks.

Windows

  1.  Go to the installation page
    • For New Brunswick and Camden users, navigate here
    • For Newark users, navigate to here
      You will see the below page:

  2. Select Download, save the file without changing its name, and then run the installer.
  3. Once the installer has finished, all printers that are advertised by a particular Mobility Print server will be installed on the client computer.
    • New Brunswick and Camden:
      • camden_bw (for black and white printing in Camden)
      • camden_color (for color printing in Camden)
      • nb_bw (for black and white printing in NB)
      • nb_color (for color printing in NB)
    • Newark:
      • newark_bw (for black and white printing in Newark)
      • newark_color (for color printing in Newark)

The first time that you print to any of these printers, you will be prompted to "Enter your name and password for the printer," and you should put your NetID and password.

macOS

  1. Go to the installation page
    • For New Brunswick and Camden users, navigate here
    • For Newark users, navigate here
      You will see the below page:

  2. Select Download, save the file without changing its name, and then run the installer. Please note: you will need to authorize the installer with an admin account on your Mac.
  3. Once the installer has finished, all printers that are advertised by a particular Mobility Print server will be installed on the client computer.
    • New Brunswick and Camden:
      • camden_bw (for black and white printing in Camden)
      • camden_color (for color printing in Camden)
      • nb_bw (for black and white printing in NB)
      • nb_color (for color printing in NB)
    • Newark:
      • newark_bw (for black and white printing in Newark)
      • newark_color (for color printing in Newark)

Android

  2. Select Install or Update to set up the Mobility Print app.
    After the Mobility Print app has been setup, you can select any printer with the PaperCut icon next to it and print:
    • New Brunswick and Camden:
      • camden_bw (for black and white printing in Camden)
      • camden_color (for color printing in Camden)
      • nb_bw (for black and white printing in NB)
      • nb_color (for color printing in NB)
    • Newark:
      • newark_bw (for black and white printing in Newark)
      • newark_color (for color printing in Newark)

iOS

  1. Go to the installation page
    • For New Brunswick and Camden users, navigate here

      Note: iPads with an M1 chip should use the direct links below as they may be directed to the Mac installer if using the above links:

  2. Tap Download to download your Mobility Print profile You need to use Safari to download and install the profile.
  3. Open iOS Settings
  4. Tap Profile Downloaded > Install Or Tap General > Profile > PaperCut Mobility Print for iOS > Install
  5. When it’s time to print, select an available printer:
    • New Brunswick and Camden:
      • camden_bw (for black and white printing in Camden)
      • camden_color (for color printing in Camden)
      • nb_bw (for black and white printing in NB)
      • nb_color (for color printing in NB)
    • Newark:
      • newark_bw (for black and white printing in Newark)
      • newark_color (for color printing in Newark)
